Getting Dental Implants in Thailand: How We Plan Visits and Healing

When international patients contact us about dental implants in Thailand, they usually want to know how many appointments they will need and how long they should stay in Bangkok. At Asok Montri Dental Clinic, we plan the schedule around the treatment required, the condition of the bone and gums, and the type of final restoration.

A single missing tooth, several missing teeth and a full arch are different clinical situations. We therefore confirm the treatment sequence after an examination rather than giving every patient the same timetable.

What determines the number of visits?

Our implant services include single implants, multiple implants, full mouth dental implants, immediate implant placement and All-on-4 treatment. A single implant generally requires fewer visits than multiple implants or a full mouth case. If bone grafting or sinus grafting is needed, this can also change the schedule.

Before you book flights, our team needs to understand which teeth are involved, what previous treatment you have received and whether you have recent dental records or X-rays. These records help us prepare, but the final plan still depends on an in-clinic assessment.

Consultation and treatment planning in Bangkok

During your consultation, we assess the teeth, gums, bite and available bone. We then explain which implant option may suit your condition, whether an additional procedure should be considered and which stages may require healing.

We will separate the plan into the first treatment visit, the healing period and the final restoration. This gives international patients a clearer picture of whether one trip may be sufficient or whether a return visit should be included in the travel plan.

When immediate implant placement may be possible

For selected patients, we may place an implant at the time a tooth is removed. This is known as immediate implant placement. Combining extraction and implant placement can reduce the number of separate procedures and may help preserve the surrounding bone and soft tissue.

Immediate placement is not appropriate for every tooth or every patient. We need to assess the condition of the site and the available bone before recommending it.

Can a tooth be placed during the same visit?

In selected cases, an implant may receive a temporary or permanent restoration shortly after placement. Our clinic describes this as immediate implant restoration or one visit restoration.

One visit restoration does not mean that every implant case is fully completed in one appointment. We will explain whether the restoration is temporary or final and what reviews or later appointments are required.

Single, multiple and full mouth implants

Single implant

A single implant replaces one missing tooth. It is usually less complex than treatment involving several teeth, although the bone and gum condition still need to be checked before we confirm the schedule.

Multiple implants

When several teeth are missing, more than one implant may support separate teeth or a bridge. These cases require more detailed planning and may involve additional appointments.

Full mouth implants and All-on-4

Full mouth treatment is intended for patients who have lost all or most of their teeth. All-on-4 uses four implants to support a full arch of prosthetic teeth. In some suitable cases, a fixed bridge or denture may be placed on the day of surgery.

All-on-4 is not suitable for everyone. Bone condition and general health may affect the choice of treatment. Long-term oral hygiene and regular dental reviews are also necessary.

How grafting can affect the timetable

An implant needs adequate supporting bone. When the bone is insufficient, we may recommend a bone graft before or during implant placement.

For some upper jaw cases, a sinus graft may be used to increase the available bone. The graft and implant can sometimes be completed during the same surgery. Other cases require a staged approach with healing before implant placement. We decide between these approaches after examining the site.

Frequently asked questions

Can dental implants be completed in one trip?

Some cases can be completed or substantially progressed during one trip, particularly when immediate placement or restoration is suitable. Other cases require healing and a later appointment. We confirm this after assessment.

Will I need a bone graft?

Not every patient needs grafting. It is considered when the existing bone does not provide enough support for the planned implant.

Is All-on-4 completed in one day?

Some suitable patients may receive a fixed restoration on the day of surgery. This depends on the clinical condition and does not remove the need for later reviews and maintenance.

How many visits will I need?
