Full Mouth Rehabilitation

Full mouth rehabilitation—also known as full mouth reconstruction or restoration—is a personalized treatment plan that combines restorative, cosmetic, and reconstructive dentistry to restore the health, function, bite, and appearance of the entire mouth.

It may be recommended for patients with multiple dental concerns, including missing or damaged teeth, extensive decay, gum disease, severe tooth wear, collapsed bite, or problems with chewing and jaw alignment.

Why full mouth rehabilitation may be needed

Missing teeth, grinding, excessive wear, and bite problems can gradually change the relationship between the upper and lower jaws. Without treatment, nearby teeth may shift and opposing teeth may over-erupt into the empty space. This can contribute to:

Before deciding, ask which teeth may be retained, which may need restoration or replacement and why each option is proposed. Full mouth rehabilitation does not mean an identical set of procedures for everyone. Discuss goals, limitations and alternatives before treatment starts.

Appointments and costs

Request a plan separating assessment, any necessary preliminary care, restoration and follow-up. Ask about temporary teeth where relevant. Timing and appointment numbers need confirmation after assessment rather than being inferred from another patient's schedule. Request an itemised estimate, inclusions, exclusions and arrangements if the plan changes.

Risks and maintenance

Ask the dentist to explain the risks, limitations and aftercare of each proposed procedure, including precautions with temporary teeth, cleaning and review intervals. Establish who to contact if problems arise and how follow-up will work if returning abroad. Restoration should not be understood as ending the need for ongoing dental care.
